Happy Home
Happy Home is a residential interior design for a three-storey house in Chongqing, China. The original building had a chaotic layout and no daylight on the lower ground floor. The interior was rebuilt through changes to the basement and a new cast-in-place floor slab on the second floor. The kitchen, dining room and fitness area were placed on the lower ground floor. Patios bring daylight and air to that level. A sunshine teahouse in the courtyard and a new terrace link the rooms with the outdoor scenery. The finished home covers 288 square meters and serves three generations.
Happy Home Residence by Wu Hong has been recognized as an outstanding illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Happy Home Residence won the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design award that honors excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
