Interwoven Layers
Interwoven Layers is a residential interior design completed in Taipei in 2019. The home is organized along a clear axis, where cabinets and walls form lines that intersect and align to create spatial layers. Open and penetrating elements let air and light pass through the interior, while materials and colors define both ends of the axis. A wide metal-plate ceiling slides beneath a traversing structural beam and becomes the visual focus of the corridor. Rusted metalwork, painted surfaces and an art collection add an artistic atmosphere.
Interwoven Layers Residence by Hung Yu Chen was selected as an innovative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Interwoven Layers Residence won the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design prize that rewards exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
