Pumpkin House
Pumpkin House is a restaurant interior set within a two-story light steel structure building in the center of Taichung. The design theme follows Halloween, matching the pumpkin dishes served by the restaurant. Manual bricklaying methods were used to modify and reinforce the exterior walls, so the facade differs from the nearby stores. Red bricks and pinewood divide the seating on each floor. The ceiling keeps the original steel texture, and blue painted timber contrasts with the brick. Recycled wine bottles form a partition on the second floor.
Pumpkin House Restaurant by Bryan Chang was selected as a creative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Pumpkin House Restaurant won the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design recognition program which recognizes superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
