Black Spruce
Black Spruce is a residential interior design for a 56.1 square meter apartment in Taiwan with two rooms, a living room and a dining room. The layout was reorganized to suit the daily habits of the occupants, so the study was relocated and the pipes were placed above the walkway ceiling. Dark colors and matte stucco form the background, applied in multiple coats to reduce glare. Moru glass and folding doors separate the areas while allowing light and views to pass through. Metal, leather and glass details add refinement to the compact home.
Black Spruce Residence by YI-HSIEN CHIANG has been highlighted as a grand representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Black Spruce Residence was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2024. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design award that rewards superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
