Wugu Market
Wugu Market is a modern public market interior in New Taipei, Taiwan. The 2327 square meter space occupies the first floor of a formerly idle multi-storey car park. Stalls are divided into raw and cooked food zones to simplify management and hygiene control. The fresh area uses refrigerated display cabinets and a low-temperature meat processing area. The cooked food area uses an electrostatic fume system to purify the air. Non-slip tiles cover the floor. Natural cement tones and wood grain grilles recall the local green bamboo shoots and bamboo forests.
Wugu Market Interior Space by Chung-I Shih was highlighted as an outstanding illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Wugu Market Interior Space won the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design prize which celebrates excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
