Shang Long
Shang Long is a funeral home located in Taipei City, Taiwan, covering 400 square meters. The interior includes a reception, a rest area, a private room, two worship areas, three Buddha halls and one restroom. A circle behind the curved counter symbolizes the fullness of life and eternity, where the beginning meets the end. White, gray and blue tones, marble and wood create a calm and warm setting. Soft light and wide walking areas reduce the sense of oppression associated with traditional funeral homes. The space offers a quiet place for remembrance.
Shang Long Funeral Home by Don Wang was selected as a grand illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Shang Long Funeral Home won the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design award that rewards outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
