Urban Jungle
Urban Jungle is a beauty salon interior located on the second floor of a building in Taoyuan, Taiwan. The 132 square meter space combines wood grain, green plants and a gabion wall with exposed steel bars to bring a natural feeling into a bare concrete interior. A T-shaped island seating area and tool storage cabinets are arranged with attention to natural light and customer privacy. The ceiling layer was removed to reduce visual pressure. Water-resistant plaster on the reception and bar counters suits the humid local climate and keeps the gray tone soft under light.
Urban Jungle Beauty Salon by Cheng Nan Chin has been recognized as an innovative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Urban Jungle Beauty Salon was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program which recognizes superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
